The layout
Every Interaxial screen shares three pieces of chrome:
- Connection bar (top) — the camera IP field, connect control, connection status, add-camera and an overflow menu (
⋯) for reconnect, history and the demo camera. - Top bar — once connected, shows the active camera's ID, name, format, timecode, power and record state.
- Panel navigation — a scrolling row of tiles. Each tile names a panel and shows its current value. Tap one to switch panels.
The panels are: Home, ND, FPS, Shutter, ISO, WB, Color, Monitoring, NDI Live, Playback, System, Audio, and Report. The System and Report panels are available even when no camera is connected.
On Mac, Interaxial runs both as a "Designed for iPad" (Mac Catalyst) app and as a dedicated native macOS app with its own menus, toolbar and preferences.
Connection & multi-camera
Type the camera's IP address (for example 192.168.1.100) into the connection bar and connect. Interaxial talks to the camera over its HTTP control API on your local network.
- Recent addresses are kept automatically; open the overflow menu (
⋯) to reconnect or pick a previous camera. - Add more cameras to control a multi-camera rig from one device.
- Demo camera — connect to any address on port
3001(e.g.127.0.0.1:3001), or pick "Demo Camera (offline test)" from the⋯menu, to work entirely offline against a realistic simulated URSA Cine Immersive.
If connecting fails or times out, see Troubleshooting connections.
Multi-camera & gang recording
When you have several cameras connected, the Multi-Camera Status view shows a card for each one with its live settings, timecode, record state and (on supported cameras) an artificial-horizon indicator. A Spatial Layout view arranges the cameras as tiles for stage/rig layouts. (Spatial layout is disabled on iPhone, where the grid is used instead.)
Gang control lets you push one setting to many cameras at once:
- Select the cameras you want — tap the selection control, or long-press a card. Use Select All to grab every camera.
- Open the Gang Control toolbar that appears and choose the parameter to apply: White Balance, ISO, Shutter, or ND Filter.
- Set the value and apply. Only the parameter you chose is sent, so each camera's other settings are preserved.
Gang recording — roll and stop the selected cameras together so their takes start in sync.
Camera group presets — save a named group of cameras together with a set of values (White Balance, Tint, ISO, ND Filter, Shutter Angle) and apply it with one tap. Create presets like "Court Cameras" or "Crowd Cameras," edit or delete them later, and they persist across app restarts. See presets.
Parameter control
Each core exposure parameter has its own panel, and the most-used four also live on Home as Quick Controls.
- ND — step the neutral-density filter through the camera's stops (Clear, 0.6, 1.2, 1.8, 2.4).
- ISO — set the camera's native ISO values.
- Shutter — set the shutter angle.
- WB — set color temperature in Kelvin, with a separate Tint adjustment.
- FPS — set the project/sensor frame rate.
Off-speed recording
The FPS panel includes off-speed (variable frame rate) recording: enable off-speed and choose a capture rate (from 12 fps up to 120 fps on supported formats) independent of the project rate.
Time-Lapse
The FPS panel also has a Time-Lapse mode. Switch to the Time-Lapse tab, dial in your interval and duration with the built-in calculator, and start the run; Interaxial fires captures at the exact interval and pulls the frames back.
All numeric fields in Interaxial use a dedicated numeric keypad — type the value and confirm with Enter.
Color, scopes & LUTs
The Color panel is a full color-correction surface for supported (Live) camera types:
- Color wheels for Lift, Gamma, Gain and Offset, each with a reset.
- Gang RGB — adjust luminance while keeping color balance intact, using a delta-based algorithm across Lift/Gamma/Gain/Offset.
- RGBW channel control.
- Detail Sharpening — an on/off toggle with Low / Medium / High presets and a continuous amount slider. Your setting is remembered and restored after a camera reboot or reconnection.
- Save a named color scene preset (Lift, Gamma, Gain, Offset) to recall a look later.
Some camera types (e.g. VOD) don't support paint operations; for those, Interaxial locks the color-wheel controls and tells you to switch to a Live camera type for full color access.
Scopes & false color
Interaxial renders professional scopes from the camera image, available in the Viewfinder:
- Histogram (per-channel and luma)
- Waveform
- Vectorscope (with a selectable gain multiplier for small-signal detail)
- False Color — a full-frame exposure overlay
See The Viewfinder for how to add and arrange scopes on screen.
LUTs
Import your own .cube LUT and preview it live on the monitored image. The LUT is applied to monitoring only — it never alters the recorded footage. (For applying a display LUT to the camera's own monitor outputs, see Monitoring outputs.)
The Viewfinder
The Viewfinder is Interaxial's live monitoring and framing surface. Open it from the Viewfinder tile on Home (there's also a floating Viewfinder button elsewhere in the app). It combines a live image, scopes, framing guides, exposure tools, telemetry, and still capture.
Live monitoring: SRT & NDI
The Viewfinder can show a live stereo feed from the camera over SRT or NDI:
- Open the live source panel from the Viewfinder's top HUD.
- NDI — discover NDI sources on the network and connect to one.
- SRT — connect as an SRT caller to a host and port.
These flat (2D) consumers show one eye of the stereo image; the full stereo dome is the job of the visionOS Immersive Viewer. For setup pointers, see NDI/SRT setup.
Eye select, zoom & pan
- Eye selector — switch the monitored eye between Left, Right, and Side-by-Side.
- Pinch to zoom and drag to pan the image, with momentum and rubber-band behavior; double-tap to refit. A captured still fits to the screen automatically, and the zoom is preserved when you only change the LUT or false color.
Framing & exposure tools
- Frame-line guides — overlay circular framing guides that stay locked to the image as you zoom and pan (available once a still is captured).
- Scopes — add Histogram, Waveform and/or Vectorscope from the scopes selector, and toggle False Color for a full-frame exposure map.
- LUT — import and preview a
.cubeLUT on the monitored image.
Artificial horizon, tilt & telemetry
When a motion source is available, the Viewfinder shows an artificial-horizon / tilt gauge and a telemetry readout, so you can level and monitor the rig while you frame. On Home and in the multi-camera cards, the same horizon indicator helps you quickly level shots.
BRAW still capture & review
- Capture a still — grab a reference frame from the camera as BRAW and review it right in the Viewfinder.
- Import a still — load an existing BRAW frame to inspect.
- Captured stills are fully zoomable and pannable, and you can apply a LUT, false color, frame lines, and switch eyes for inspection.
Monitoring outputs
The Monitoring panel controls the camera's physical monitor outputs independently: SDI A, SDI B, LCD 1, LCD 2, and USB-C. For each output you can toggle:
- Clean Feed — removes overlays and UI from the output.
- Display LUT — applies a color LUT to that monitor output only (not to recorded footage).
- Frame Grids — overlays composition guides.
- Eye View — Left / Right / Side-by-Side (on SDI A, SDI B and USB-C).
NDI Live Monitor
The NDI Live panel is a dedicated NDI monitoring tile:
- Discover and connect to NDI sources on your network, and disconnect when you're done.
- Capture stills from the NDI feed with professional reel / clip / scene / take metadata.
On Mac, NDI monitoring needs Apple's free NDI runtime (included with NDI Tools) installed; without it, NDI features are disabled and Interaxial tells you so. See the FAQ.
Playback
The Playback panel gives you transport control over the camera's clips, with a timeline for scrubbing — useful for reviewing takes without leaving the app.
Immersive hand-off
Interaxial can hand a grabbed stereo still off to the Immersive Viewer on Apple Vision Pro for true in-headset review.
- In the Viewfinder, capture a still from the camera.
- Tap Immersive. Interaxial builds a stereo spatial photo (a stereo-pair HEIC) from the left/right frames.
- Share it to a Vision Pro — for example via AirDrop — and open it in the Immersive Viewer.
The native visionOS Immersive Viewer (a separate Interaxial app for Apple Vision Pro) presents stereo content on an immersive 180° dome. Alongside reviewing handed-off spatial stills, it can act as a live stereo monitor over SRT and NDI, and plays spatial clips in its media gallery.
Camera reports, CSV export & presets
The Report panel is Interaxial's production-reporting surface, organized by Day → Scene → Take → Reel.
Camera reports & CSV export
- Build professional camera reports with 200+ configurable metadata fields (configure which fields appear via the CSV field settings).
- Export to CSV at the Reel, Day, or whole-report level.
- CSVs are written in UTF-16 LE encoding with a byte-order mark for compatibility with DaVinci Resolve and other NLE/color tools.
Dual export
Reports export to two destinations: a configured cloud folder (e.g. an iCloud/Files location) and/or a local share. Interaxial writes to your cloud folder when one is configured and falls back to the system share sheet otherwise, so your report reaches both your storage and the camera-media workflow.
Presets
- Camera group presets — save a group of cameras plus a set of values (White Balance, Tint, ISO, ND, Shutter Angle) and apply with one tap. See gang recording.
- Color scene presets — save and recall a Lift/Gamma/Gain/Offset look from the Color panel.
Presets are stored on-device and persist across app restarts.
System settings, ILPD & ST Maps
The System panel holds camera system settings plus the immersive post-production tools:
- Lens Profile (ILPD) extraction — pull the camera's lens-calibration data (ILPD) with one tap.
- ST Map generation — Interaxial generates distortion-correction ST Maps for the left and right views (as EXR files) for use in Nuke, Flame and other compositing tools. Share the ILPD JSON and ST Maps out to your VFX workflow.
Companions
Apple Watch
The Apple Watch companion pairs with the Interaxial app on your iPhone (over Watch Connectivity) and gives you wrist control of the connected camera:
- Record start/stop
- ND Filter
- ISO
- White Balance
- Shutter Angle
Apple TV
The Apple TV companion turns a big screen into a multi-camera status wall, with a camera grid and a spatial camera layout view for monitoring your rig at a glance.
